As part of the Media Masters project, the Institute for Media Communication at FERI UM (University of Maribor, Slovenia) organized a workshop aimed at strengthening media and digital literacy skills. On this occasion, they visited Lesično Primary School, where they explored the importance of these competencies together with the students and discussed the responsible and critical use of media content in today’s society.
The workshop was designed to be interactive and hands-on. Through active participation, students discussed the phenomenon of fake news and learned how to recognize it within the overwhelming amount of information they encounter daily. They were introduced to key concepts of media and digital literacy, while developing critical thinking as an essential tool for evaluating the credibility of various sources.
A highlight of the workshop was playing the educational board game Media Masters, which encourages students to reflect on the role of media, understand journalistic standards, and approach digital content responsibly.
The students showed great interest and enthusiasm, while the support of their teachers further contributed to the successful and engaging implementation of the event.
